It never rains in southern california

简单的旋律
简单的歌词
却犹如一部经典的老片
和San Francisco并列为我最喜欢的乡村歌曲~~
歌词:
got on board a westbound seven forty-seven
didn’t think before deciding what to do
ooh, that talk of opportunities, tv breaks and movies
rang true, sure rang true …
seems it never rains in southern california
seems i’ve often heard that kind of talk before
it never rains in california, but girl, don’t they warn ya?
i’m out of work, i’m out of my head
out of self respect, i’m out of bread
i’m underloved, i’m underfed, i wanna go home
it never rains in california, but girl, don’t they warn ya?
it pours, man, it pours
will you tell the folks back home i nearly made it?
had offers but didn’t know which one to take
please don’t tell them how you found me
don’t tell ’em how you found me
give me a break, give me a break
seems it never rains in southern california
seems i’ve often heard that kind of talk before
it never rains in california, but girl, don’t they warn ya?
it pours, man, it pour

人们记起Albert Hammond,往往是因为它他手经典名曲“It never rains in southern California”。Albert Hammond,1942年生于英国伦敦,成长在直布罗陀。60年代中期,和他的好友Steve Rowland一起将它改组为Family Dogg乐队。1969年的首张LP《A way of life》已推出就获得成功,产生多首上榜曲目,但不久,Hammond就离开了乐队,独立发展自己的歌唱事业。1972年,单曲“It never rains in southern California”一发行就进入美国音乐榜前五,第二年初出版同名专辑。第二张专辑《the free electric band》也在这一年发行,词曲创作及吉他演奏全由他一手操办,“I’m a Train”是其中的上榜歌曲。在接下来的十几二十年中,Hammond保持着他多产的步伐前进,最终以他的词曲创作力闻名。在为自己创作的同时,他还为众多歌手写过歌,Leo Sayer 1977年的榜首歌曲“When I need you”、Diane Warren的热门曲目“Nothing’s gonna stop us now”以及Chicago的“I don’t wanna live without your love”都是出自他的手笔。Hammond的儿子Albert Hammond Jr.继承父业,以吉他手的身份在2000年初于Strokes乐队中初露锋芒。
